You know that teacher you would have absolutely loved to have as a student? Now turn the question around: if you were a student in your own classroom, would you choose yourself as your favourite teacher?

Think about how you teach, how you handle questions, how patient you are, how you respond to mistakes, and even how much fun your classes are. This quiz is a fun way to see whether the teacher you are today is also the teacher you would have loved to have as a student.

You give your students an assignment and come to class the next day only to discover that many of them did not do it. What would you do?

Give them an impromptu test using questions from the assignment.

Start asking who did not do it and make the matter bigger than it needs to be.

Explain why the assignment was important and encourage them to take their work more seriously.

Collect the assignment from whoever did it. Those who did not do it will deal with the consequences of their own choice

A student comes to your class without a pen. What would you do?

“Get out of my class if you do not have a pen. You should know better.”

“David, again? You did not bring a pen again? Let me tell your class teacher about this.”

Ask the student to share with someone nearby so they can still participate in the lesson.

“You do not have a pen? That is your business. I have mine.”

Your class is unusually noisy and students are barely paying attention. What would you do?

“Since everybody has suddenly become very energetic, let us have an impromptu test.”

“I have been hearing that this class behaves like this in other subjects too. This matter needs to be addressed.”

“I understand you want to talk, but you are also here to learn. Let us settle down and continue.”

“If you people want to talk, talk. I will finish what I came here to teach.”

One of your students scores 4 out of 20 in your test. What would you do?

Return the script and tell them they should prepare properly because the next test will not be easier.

“Four out of twenty? This is serious. The principal needs to hear about this.”

Sit with the student, find out what they struggled with and help them work out how to improve.

Return the script. You have taught the topic. What they do with the result is up to them.

A student walks into your class 20 minutes late. What would you do?

Ask them to explain themselves and give them a quick test on what they missed.

Start asking questions about why the student is always late and make sure the issue gets noticed.

Let them settle down, then check that they understand what they missed.

Let them take their seat. You are not their parent, and you are not going to chase them around.

Two students have been talking throughout your lesson despite several warnings. What would you do?

Call one of them up and give them an impromptu question from what you have been teaching.

“I have noticed these two have been doing this repeatedly. At this point, everybody needs to know about it.”

Move closer to them and quietly remind them to pay attention.

Ignore them. If they want to spend the lesson talking, that is their decision.

You catch a student cheating during a test. What would you do?

Collect the student's script immediately and make it clear that cheating will not be tolerated.

Make sure the matter reaches the people who need to hear about it, because this cannot just end with you.

Speak to the student afterwards and find out why they felt they needed to cheat, while making it clear that it is wrong.

Deal with the script and move on. You have done your part by setting the test.

It is the last period on a Friday. Your students are tired and clearly ready to go home. What would you do?

“Since everybody is tired, let us see how much you actually remember.” Impromptu test.

“This class has been looking exhausted all week. I need to discuss this with your class teacher.”

Make the lesson lighter and more interactive so they can still learn without feeling overwhelmed.

Teach what you need to teach and leave them to themselves. “Whether you pay attention or not, I have done my job.”

You would definitely be your favourite teacher. You like teachers who keep students in line, and you would probably run your classroom the same way: strict rules, clear consequences, no unnecessary excuses.

You would be your favourite teacher because nothing gets past you. You notice everything, remember everything, and somehow make sure everyone else knows about it too. Your students may not always appreciate it, but they will definitely remember you.

You would be your favourite teacher because you actually care. You want your students to understand, improve and do well. You would probably be the teacher students feel comfortable going to when they need help.

You would be your favourite teacher because you mind your business. You have taught your lesson. You have done your job. What students choose to do afterwards is between them and their report card.
